Set back #1

I've been sick. Sick since Thursday evening. What a set back I feel it's been. For the first time in a while, I have finally felt committed to being active and then I get a chest/sinus cold. I haven't run since last Wednesday and I feel like now I'm going to be even slower come Wednesday's GTS (Group training session). Sigh. We'll see what happens tomorrow evening.

I'm a-hurtin'

So, yesterday was my first Wednesday evening Group Training Session (GTS), with Team In Training (TNT). I felt like a LOOOOSER. I'm one of the slowest ones there, by a pretty large margin. Sigh. One of the awesome Mentors ran with me for a little and she gave me a great pep talk. She said to go at my own pace since that's the only way I'd keep going and make progress. She's awesome. But still, I kind of feel like a burden for the trainers, but I guess that's what they do...train all levels.

I'm definitely sticking with it. I mean it's for a GREAT cause - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - and raising money to find a cure to these diseases.

I got a donation sent to me yesterday from a woman who's husband was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, cancer of the bone marrow. That reorganized my priorities. This training and half marathon is just as much for me as it is for those who have suffered are suffering and unfortunately will suffer with these cancers, of not more so.
